April 2016 General Meeting
April 23, 2016 @ 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM PDT
For our April meeting we will have a panel of politically active millennials discussing their visions for the Democratic Party. We will also have a number of candidates for elected offices stopping by, including candidates wishing to be delegates to the Democratic Convention.
Come on out and meet with us, share some great political discussions, talk about the presidential election and have a nice cup of coffee with some other friendly Democrats. And, who knows we may even have a few of our local politicians stop by to talk to us and even seek our endorsement.
Before the general meeting at 10-Pat McFarlane’s Political Action Committee meets at 9 am. Participation open to all members. This Committee, more than most any other, represents what DEMCCO and other volunteer political groups are all about. There is much to be done in this coming election cycle and Pat knows what to do. Some of you may know that Oceanside Go-Team coordinator Jeanette Peck has moved to Orange County. This leaves Oceanside without a G-T organizer. The County Party Go-Team volunteers are a big reason our Democratic voting registration numbers have gone up dramatically over the last years, but still not enough. Cecily Resnick is the North County coordinator. PLEASE, PLEASE, contact her if you can do anything at all to help. If you can no longer walk precincts, phoning, mailing and eMailing are fine tools also. Narima Lopes is the Carlsbad coordinator. This city could use a little help from the Democrats.

Why is the Go-Team important? Why are clubs like DEMCCO important? Look at the numbers. 31 U.S. Governors are Republican. 114th Congress: The House has 247 Republicans , and only 188 Democrats. The Senate count is equally dismal, with 54 Republicans, 44 Dems., 2 Ind. The majority of Supreme Court judges are conservative. Are all Americans being fairly represented in our 50 States and One Nation? I doubt it. It’s tough to get the Party’s humane message out when there aren’t enough voices to deliver it.
