December’s Holiday Party a Success!

Our annual holiday party was held on December 3, 2016.  New members and old members had a great time.    We enjoyed the music of the New Horizons Band from the Museum of Making Music.  Thanks to Barbara Mead for her donation that allowed us to have this band.

Amanda Mascia and Lisa McKethan who helped Cori Schumacher be the first Democrat elected to the Carlsbad City Council, spoke of the high morale and positive campaign that made it possible to succeed.  They advised the audience that we must pay attention to the people–run a campaign centered on the community.  Mike Bullock spoke of the results of the countywide Measure A and B.  Measure A failed to get the 67% vote necessary and Measure B failed to get the majority vote.  The message is that voters can’t be fooled!  We need to get up and do something–don’t give up!  Everyone has a voice!  So get behind what you believe in.

Donna Rencsak, a psychotherapist, said that she has been seeing an increase in anxiety and panic attacks.  She advised that if this happens to you–stop, breathe in to the count of 4, hold your breath to the count of 8, then exhale to the count of 8.  Doing this is very helpful in allowing you to relax.
